landLand

Agriculture uses vast areas of land, much more than any other industry. It occupies about half the total land in the UK, 60% in France, 65% in Italy and nearly 60% of all land in the EU.

The rest is forest, rough grazing and urban and industrial use. Rough grazing in the UK accounts for 66% of all rough grazing in EU. 2% of the workforce in the UK work on the land, about 12% in France and 6% in Germany before unification.
