We are currently looking at ways to include the following:

Options for facilitating transfer of data from your own systems (eg transfer data from muddy boots) options may be to import using either csv, xsl, text, and one other. We are exploring methods to find the most user-friendly, together with systems compatable with the majority of your own record keeping eg uploading fields directly from your own Muddyboots programme.

Method for 'scoring' pesticide use for inclusion in step 3

System for archiving and retrieving your submitted responses.

Method for amending retrieved archive submissions to reflect changes rather than input from scratch annually/seasonally

Ways to input data for continual cropping where different seasonal applications are used (eg. lettuce) - this will entail entering your proposed list of pesticides to be used annually, then marking off those actually applied.

System for the Co-operative to link residue test results with your records of applied ingredients

How best to monitor seasonal trends

Adding faqs to the help menu

Adding link re: standardisation of MRLs

Adding Case Studies (eg the recent Red Pepper scenario)

Sending pertinent news / updates by email to all suppliers as well as monthly updating the news bulletin on site (link from index)

Work out a way that if suppliers already confirm whether a number of quality schemes - eg Assured produce, LEAF, Eurogap, M&Ss "Field to Fork", Tesco's Nature's Choice" etc, that this automatically answers a number of questions...eg storage of pesticides is covered by eurogap - worldwide.

Are other residues going to be looked for in near future - eg glycol alcohol?

And two issues that one gorup of suppliers wished the government to consider..

1) Ask for degradation rates be included on label. This leads to wider question as to why we cant have more infomration that is found during approval..could look to releasing more about trial without jeopardising commerciality.

2) How to reduce Post Harvest treatments that leave food residues.

3) How to control Botrytis with less fungicides?

Issues you may be able to help us with:

We have been unable to find up to date information on the legacy of aldrin, dieldrin still appearing in veg such as courgettes. Suggestion has been to mention this under the topic of soil/land quality with a recommendation for ensuring soil analysis has been carried out before planting. Forward any information/links or other suggestion you think relelvant - thanks

The Co-operative list on the data base is the issue dated May 05. However it was noted that there are no dessicants listed in the database for potato crops – Charlie will liase with the Co-operative and add as appropriate. If there are any other active ingredients you use that have been omitted please let us know.

We would like a logo for the programme so that when you bookmark it you have an easily recognised link – a spray nozzle in graduated Co-operative blues has been suggested – forward any ideas please.

The programme seems a little lacking in photographs, if any of you are prepared to let us use images you have of pesticide application, diseased crops, before-after photos are similar illustrations please send and we will credit accordingly, jpg or png preferred but gif / tiff usable. Thank you.

We are putting together a short crib sheet, possibly in the format of a flow chart, explaining how to use the programme over the next couple of weeks – anything you feel needs explaining please let us know and we will include.

Over the last couple of weeks we have made the following changes to the programme:

The Glossary has been expanded. Any obvious omissions please let us know.

Revision of the Council Directive 91/414 and current progress with the EU review of existing active substances: link has been added to keep you up to date http://www.eppo.org/PPPRODUCTS/EUreport.htm (European Plant Protection Org) If anyone has a more up to date place of reference please let us know and we will include.

And keep your eye on the Noticeboard..

Regards

Nancy Thompson / Charlie Clutterbuck
