Environmental Legislation

Polluter Pays
Polluter should pay for damage to health or environment. Public money should not subsidise pollution reduction for private industry.
Asbestos
Those who control the maintenance and repair of buildings must identify the location and condition of any asbestos in order to inform anyone likely to disturb it
Packaging Regulations
The more packaging your company handles, the more you have to recover & recycle. Reconsider reducing or re-using.
WEEE
Private householders waste electrical goods must be returned to the producers, free of charge, for recycling


Every employer has a responsibility to uphold the law and must know what environmental legislation relates to the organisation and it's activities

Pollution of Controlled Waters
You need a discharge consent to allow liquid wastes - including wash water - into rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, canals, coastal waters, estuaries and groundwater.
Duty of Care
Anyone who carries, keeps, treats, or disposes of waste, or arranges disposal, must ensure nobody in the chain commits a waste offence
Climate Change Levy
Tax on non-domestic fuel to encourage businesses to use less energy, and contribute to reduction in Carbon Dioxide emissions
VOCs.....CFCs Regulations covering Building work
include regulations for planning, cladding, roofing, plumbing, refurbishment, oil & chemical storage, site clearance, heating & other works.
