Design changes can get to the source of the problem.

Ask questions like: "Can we:

• Do this another way?"
  
  
• Design out a problem or material
  e.g. toxic substance ?"

• Design changes to the product to reduce raw materials?"
  eg. make a fork with 3 instead of 4 prongs ?

You are in the best position to answer questions like these.
