These
principles are based on the text accepted at the 3rd WHO Ministerial
Conference on Health and the Environment.
The
principles of HESSME bring together the best practices in
Health Promotion, Environment Protection and Occupational
Health and Accident prevention and Sustainable Development
These
principles underpin the systems that produce HESSME practice.
1.
Promote good practices of health promotion, environmental
management, and accident prevention
2.
Integrate health, environment and safety into one process,
based on quality systems.
3.
Establish general HESSME particularly appropriate for small
companies.

4.
Involve employees in range of activities to promote HESSME
5. Communicate with social partners, occupational professionals,
and government agencies.
6.
Recognise disease and disorders are caused by a multitude
of factors, including work
7.
Seek to reduce hazards at source.
8.
Reduce reliance on outside professionals, by using supporting
networks
9.
Encourage people to maintain their personal health and that
of others.
10.
Demonstrate an holistic approach, that takes in social, health,
economic and environmental solutions.
