HESSME Learning Programme Outline

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 2 Day HESSME Training, participants should be able to:
1. Implement a simple HESSME in a small company.
2. Promote good HESSME practices
3. Participate in support networks for HESSME in European Region

Programme

A two-day programme should provide small companies, and organisations supporting SMEs, with sufficient evidence to provide the necessary principles and procedures of HESSME. The days of the programme may be separated by about a month to enable participants to try it out the proposals. Work in small groups and report back regularly.

 

Day 1
Morning

Introductions and Aims
Activity
1 All participants introduce themselves.
2 Agree the Learning Outcomes for 2-Day Programme
3 Discuss whether you agree with the HESSME Principles

Gaining Commitment

1 Discuss "Why you should have a HESSME"
2 Select an 'implementer" from the group and discuss why you made the choice.

Review Present State

"HESSME Checklist" Benchmark test for SMEs.

Make Risk Assessment

Assess selected risk cases, including asbestos, chemical..

Set Targets

How HES targets can motivate and involve everybody

Participants agree on what they are going to try and implement

Day 2

Report back on Workplace Activities

Achieving Targets

Analyse why some more successful in achieving target

Identify where and how to make further improvements
