Set Targets

According to Indicators

Eco-velocity measures the carbon impacts and compares it with the mitigation measures - smarter manufacturing and energy saving. Thus, a one to one ratio is what to aim for. The eco-velocity of a personal computer went from 3:1 to 4:1 between 1995 - 2000. More about Eco velocity as an Indicator

According to International standards

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this activity, you will be able to:

  • Determine different sorts of indicators of success
  • Recomend feasible targets based on your assessment
  • Involve others in determination of target

Assessment Criteria
You will:

  • Set broad objectives
  • Choose specific targets for each objective
  • Match environmental, management and operational indicators with targets

Targets against Indicators:
You will need some indicators to measure the targets against. The International Standard:
ISO 14031 sets standards for Environmental Performance Indicators (EPIs), Management (EMIs) and Operational Indicators (OPIs).Ideally the indicators would be some available measurement that is already being carried out.

Task 1: Look at the plans you considered for each of the issues

Task 2: Decide which two plans could be feasible for your organisation to persue, discuss your plans with others.

Task 3: Set a broad objective to reduce carbon use at work for each chosen plan.

Task 4: Suggest specific targets that you estimate your organisation could realistically achieve, consult with colleagues.

Task 5: Quantify your targets and estimate timescales.

Example:

Objective: Reduce carbon dioxide emission from Dept A Issue: Global Warming / Climate Change
Target: Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15% in 1 year
ECI: Less GHGs
MPI: 3 people become "Carbon Counters" Issue: Carbon Culture
OPI: Monitored energy use

Members can now go to the database and input 'Targets & Indicators'

the following is going to go in Database...

Set Targets
Using all the previous assessments, make 2 broad objectives to reduce carbon use at work.

For each of these objectives suggest specific targets you believe your organisation could achieve
- set timelines and amounts.

Objective 1:

Suggest specific targets you believe your organisation could achieve:

Objective 2

:

Suggest specific targets you believe your organisation could achieve:

Targets against Indicators:

You will need some indicators to measure the targets against.
ISO 14031 sets standards for Environmental Performance Indicators (EPIs), Management (EMIs) and Operational Indicators (OPIs).Ideally the indicators would be some available measurement that is already being carried out. Complete the grid below identifying the following:
