EP@W authored a report for the TUC called "Towards a Sustainble Waste Strategy". This recommended improved skills development for all people in the waste chain, particularly waste collectors who could become 'green ambassadors' as Danish workers do.
EP@W helped deliver and appraise the first pilot of the vocational award 'Environmental Effectiveness'.
We authored the learning support materials for candidates wishing to complete the Environmental Effectiveness Award, helped assess & verify, advised the partners delivering the programme to over 50 candidates working (under supervision) in 11 SMEs in the North West of England.
The aims of the pilot were:
- Facilitate candidates in achieving the EAL Level 2 Environmental Effectiveness Award.
- Demonstrate tangible reductions in the environmental impacts of participants work practices.
- Produce an Environmental Effectiveness Workbook of supporting materials and competence based activities.
The UK Government's Action Energy Programme/Future Energy Solutions followed up this pilot with a number of case studies. These are available free of charge from Future Energy Solutions, AEA Technology, B153, Harwell, Didcot, Oxon OX11 0QJ quoting reference numbers GPCS 420, GPCS 421, GPCS 422.
