1. How people’s knowledge, experience and attitude affect their perception of risk

2. Hierarchy of measures to control risk and how the principle of ‘so far as is reasonably practicable’ will affect their application

3. How to investigate accidents and incidents to establish causes

4. How to implement procedures to enact the health and safety policy

5. How to carry out a workplace/farm inspection and, where appropriate, report findings to management

6. Main health and safety law applying to agriculture/horticulture

7. Measures to reduce risks from lone working in agriculture/horticulture

This Unit (1) explores the principles of control, in order to provide the necssary knowledge and understanding so that you can implement better safety procedures, in Unit 2.
