Quote from physicist, Lord Kelvin:

When you can measure what you are

speaking about and measure it in

numbers you know you know something

about it. When you cannot express

it in numbers, your knowledge is

of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind.

Quick Carbon Quiz

Why do we need to count carbon?

Many people are now developing their role in relation to reducing carbon dioxide emissions and consumption of carbon fuels. More people starting to ask organisations: "How much carbon are you emitting"? Organisations will need to organise themselves much better, and here are some of the things they need "to do". Join our 'Wiki' on organising carbon counting.

Measure carbon usage in order to manage resources and implement good environmental practice.

Establish a base line against which to measure improvements -while this may be difficult in the first place, there are opportunities to be gained if you can be at the forefront.

Report on greenhouse gas (GHG) emission performance to a wide range of stakeholders and customers. Involve staff to find areas for improvement and make reductions in energy consumption & GHG emissions.

Involve supply chain with 'cradle to grave' initiatives to improve the overall footprint of your products and services.

Satisfy external concerns. Customers and other stakeholders will require accurate information about the carbon footprint of your products and services. image: counting Prepare for future legislative changes.
Reduce energy consumption, reduce GHG emissions, reduce the carbon footprint of your products and services.
