Understand Risks
LO1 helps to understand the risks of lone working.
Use the usual Who, What Why Where's to perceive the risks involved.
Ask
Which jobs and where are jobs where people work on their own?
When will an employee or employer may be required to work alone?
What does "lone working" mean? It is easier enough to see that a shepherd or gamekeeper will be in their own for long periods. Is it 'lone working' when in a field with others - but out of earshot?
How do you communicate with lone workers now?
Accidents
LO3 help to look for causes. Look at the tragic case above of a lone worker.
Determine how this accident would have been reported under RIDDOR and what evidence would be needed to be collected.
What is the cause of the accident?
