The EU Commission in January 2000 moved to require that food companies provide labels on food if any ingredient contains more than 1% GM ingredients.

You may need to:

  • Establish clear documentation all along the supply chain.
  • Clean and inspect equipment at every stage, including farm machinery, transport and food manufacturing production lines.
  • Test product for Genetic Modification e.g IndentiGEN (look for GMO testing).
  • Establish audit trails.
  • Ensure segregation of GM and non-GM commodities.

Possible Policy statement

On precautionary grounds, no genetically modified raw ingredients or products containing genetically modified ingredients will be included in our range of foods.
