Transport Hierachy

1 Don't drive: Don't use the car for short journeys;

2. Take a walk or cycle and keep fit

3. Check out public transport, which can often be an easier and more cost-effective way of travelling, and no worry about parking.

4. When you do use the car, try to combine trips into one journey and, where possible, share trips with friends.

Significant savings can be achieved relatively easily by:

Monitoring vehicle and driver performance - set baseline fuel consumption standards, train for environmental driving

Routing and Scheduling well worked out.

Reducing Engine and aerodynamic drag losses - set accurate control of air flow, full roof fairing,

Improving maintenance (esp tyres - having the right tyres properly inflated and bogie lifts on trailers)
