Skills

The Environmental Practitioner Programme™ is competence based. This means that you do not have to sit exams but can demonstrate in other ways that you can do what is required. You develop existing workplace skills.

Competencies are being developed for health and safety and the environment at work. There are now National Occupational Standards to help you develop your skills and competence in HSE areas. And you can now demonstrate these skills, if you wish, with vocationally related awards.

The Environmental Practioner Programme has more than enough information needed to develop the knowledge and understanding required to demonstrate environmental practice skills. However you may want to go beyond the existing information, and there are suitable web pages at the appropriate places for you to extend your knowledge.

However the approach here is quite different from much environmental training that tends to throw out a lot of information but does not apply this to work functions or individual skills. In this competence based programme the tasks come first and the knowledge supports how you carry out those tasks.
