Environmental Practitioner

An Environmental Practitioner at level 3 would be somebody who:

· Knows, or knows where to go to find out about, the main environmental concerns, issues and laws.

· Can carry out environmental risk assessments and help set environmental targets for the organisation

· Make suggestions to improve environmental practice and promote sustainable development.Environmental skills are going to be required increasingly over the next few years in all sorts of organisations.

However it is not clear exactly what tasks will be required, so the skills have yet to be defined for general industry. Hence there are no National Occupational Standards for good environmental practice. In their absence, here is what we believe an Environmental Practioner would be expected to do.

Environmental practitioners are the missing link between having the ideas and putting them into practice. Environmental practitioners could be expected to be the drivers for environmental improvements, linking between the management (level 4) and shopfloor (level 1&2).
