There are a number of National Vocational
Qualifications at level 3 standards and awards for people
working in various parts of the environment industry:
Water
BETWI
- The Board for Education and training in the Water Sector
- offer a series of qualifications at levels 1- 3. At level
3 these include Monitoring the Water Environment, and Controlling
Water operations.

the land based NTO, provide N/SVQ at level 2 & 3 in Environmental

Waste
Waste
management licensing legislation in 1994 introduced the concept
of competence and the need to be able to demonstrate it against
a recognised occupational standard.

WAMITAB
the Waste Management Industry and Training Board have produced
standards from levels 1 to 4 that cover waste management activities
including landfill, transfer, treatment, incineration and
civic amenity site operation. The awards cover the reception
of wastes, protection of the environment, and control of the
use of resources.

additional to NVQs, vocationally related awards exist where
there are no sector specific national standards.
Environment
at work
The
Awarding BodyNCFE offer a vocationally related award at level
3 called 'Advanced Certificate for the Environmental Practitioner'.
