Task
-
Choose
10 people at your work. Make sure they cover a cross section
of your workforce, including cleaners, porters or technicians
as well as supervisors and managers. Copy the survey form
below and send or talk with each person. Find out what
they consider are the main environmental concerns arising
from the orgnaisation's work activity. Get them to indicate
their order of concern. Put 10 for most important and
allocate each number down to 1 for least significant.
-
Find
out their reasons for selection. (If you are talking with
them you might like to ask them to your presentation -
see next activity 1.3). Make notes. Calculate the average
scores for each, then put in order of overall priority.
-
Use your notes to write a paragraph or two of your conclusions.
Explain why you think the people came up with their particular
choices. Analyse whether people are more concerned about
local, regional or global impacts:
Toxic Waste Disposal, Unsightly Landfill, Local Wildlife
and Sewage in waterways = Local
transport, Air Quality and Efficient Energy = Regional/National
Ozone Layer Hole, Global warming and Resource Depletion
= Global
