Activity 1.4 - YOUR ORGANISATION'S STRUCTURE
SITE & SITUATION
 

Learning Outcomes


At the end of this activity you will be able to:
· Outline how your organisation may promote environmental benefits.
· Portray the organisation
· Recognise key personnel.
· Depict the organisation's site and situation

Assessment Criteria
You will:
· Identify Standards, Policies and Management Systems in your organisation
· Describe the organisation's structure, functions, activities, own role, management style, and key personnel
· Draw a map of where your organisation is in relation to geographical and ecological locale, land air and water.

Task 1

Find or make a chart outlining your organisation, including relation to parent or subsidiary companies. This chart should indicate the overall structure of your organisation, its main functions (e.g. delivering mail) and main activities (e.g collecting, sorting, driving) and your own position (e.g postie)

Where is your organisation in relation to each of the following? Note the number for each category.

Which number do you think your organisation is? Write a short report (paragraph) explaining your choice of number(s).

Task 3

Key Personnel.
Who would you go to to implement any environmental change?

1. Quality Manager
2. H&S Officer/Adviser
3. Works Manager

5. Director.
Add another short report, explaining why you made your particular choice.

Task 4

    Draw a map of your organisation. Describe what the surrounding area consists of in terms of land (e.g. fields, "built-up" etc), air (e.g windy) and water (e.g rivers). Oultine the "geographical locale" (e.g flat, hilly) and any "ecological niches" ( e.g marsh, wood)

Allow 3 hours maximum for this activitiy (1 hour for each task). Check the Guide
