LO3. Control measures which meet appropriate good practice standards
Control measures should seek to reduce hazards at source, rather than try to cover them up later. We saw in U1 LO2 that there is a "Hierachy of Control" which says that it is best to replace and reduce exposures as the best way of implementing control of risks - rather than trying to cover up people later. We also saw in U1 LO3 that there were legal standards of practices and procedures that should be introducing when controlling hazards.
However, it is always better to go beyond the minimum requirements of law and implement good practices. These good practices are based on years of experience extensive discussion among pactitioners. For Guides spelling out good practices for a range of hazards and procedures, see U2 LO5. Good practices are not just technical standards, as they often depend of people to make sure they work.
