When choosing a variety to be grown for Co-operative Retail consideration should be given to:
- Resistance to pests and diseases.
- Growth habit and physical structure.
- Likely quality of harvested crop (in line with specifications).
- Flavour, texture and colour.
- Suitability for local growing conditions.
- Yield.
