PERFORMANCE STANDARDS 6 BIODIVERSITY 7. Natural and Plantation Forests | NATURAL AND PLANTATION FORESTS Manage renewable natural resources in a sustainable manner. Demonstrate the sustainable management of the resources through an appropriate system of independent certification. Forests are principal providers of natural resources, and need to be managed as follows: Not cause any conversion or degradation of critical habitat. Locate plantation projects on unforested land or land already converted (excluding land that is converted in anticipation of the project). Ensure that all natural forests and plantations are independently certified as meeting standards compatible with internationally criteria for sustainable forest management. (Criteria & Indicators for Forests). Where this not yet available, develop an action plan for achieving such certification.
