Social and Environmental Management System

Performance Standard 1 aims to

  • Identify and assess social and environment impacts, both adverse and beneficial
  • Avoid, or where avoidance is not possible, minimize, mitigate, or compensate for adverse impacts on workers, affected communities , and the environment
  • Ensure that affected communities are engaged on issues that could potentially affect them
  • Promote improved social and environment performance of companies through the effective use of management systems.

Social and environmental performance must be managed throughout the life of a project, process, product or part there of.

Social and environmental management systems:

  • Are dynamic, continuous processes.
  • Ensure communication between client/customer, workers, and local communities directly affected.
  • Draw on the elements of classic "quality" systems - “plan, implement, check, and act,” CSR Planner helps make your PLAN.
  • Involve the assessment of potential social and environmental impacts and risks. This should be a life cycle assessment - from cradle to grave.
  • Provide order and consistency for mitigating and managing these risks and impacts on an ongoing basis.
A good system can lead to improved financial, social and environmental outcomes.
