Guide to Unit 2 - 2

This Unit not only helps you participate in environmental changes but also helps your manager to meet the requirements of recognised environmental management systems and standards.

By involving you, this may help your organisation demonstrate that the necessary training has been carried out and the required competencies achieved.

You will undertake a process of identifying environmental impacts arising from aspects of your work and then try to work out which pose significant risks. You will develop the risk assessment techniques common in health and safety, and then use these to assess or "mark" your own work area, department or plant. These assessments can be turned into numerical figures, a technique common in target setting. You will work out possible targets using the international ISO 14031 standards for indicators.
