Activity
2.5
Now
you have a better idea of how to make an environmental risk
assessment, you will be required to go beyond your own work
and assess the whole of your department, area or plant.
This activity is based on the idea of "benchmarking". Managers
self assess their organisation against a general set of questions,
where there is a choice of graded answers. The managers can
then grade/benchmark themselves against others. Here the same
technique is used, adapted to plant level |
Task1 is used to survey an area/department
or plant. The questions ask about practical matters, such
as paper use and water conservation. You should be able to
see the answers around you, or be able to find the answers
quire easily.
Task 2 asks you to summarise the results of each question.
This way, you can reach a final figure that can be used as
a measure of your plant's environmental performance. In this
way, you can turn values into numbers.
