A useful farm checklist can be found at Checklist doc Alter it for your own use.

Checklists can identify any issues that may put user at risk and they can help comply with specific legal requirements. While it may be a tick box exercise, they offer the potential to discuss matters with other staff.

Why carry out checklists? It means you don't have to remember everything, and enables you to keep your eyes open to improvements.

Who should carry out checks? Clearly most managers need not do it themselves, but instead appoint a competent person to do it. This may be supervisors or team leaders. Where they are recognised, trade union H&S Reps have a right to inspect every 3 months.
