Monitor (corresponds with ISO 14001 4.5.1)

Establish procedures to monitor and measure the effectiveness of the management program.

Record information to track performance and establishing relevant operational controls.

Use dynamic mechanisms, such as inspections and audits, to verify compliance and progress toward the desired outcomes.

Retain qualified and experienced external experts to verify monitoring information, where there are significant impacts that are diverse, irreversible, or unprecedented.

Make monitoring commensurate with the risks and impacts and compliance requirements.

Adjust monitoring according to performance experience and feedback.

Document monitoring results, and identify and reflect the necessary corrective and preventive actions in the amended management programme.

Implement corrective and preventive actions, and check these actions.
