  3. number of sites with wildlife programmes

To be relevant as an environmental performance indicator, the particular emergency or environmental procedures would have to be specified.

While the OPI chosen may measure the amount of emissions, the associated MPI might be the frequency of maintenance.

Indicators can be chosen to help monitor progress towards the bigger global issues, such as sustainable development.

They help management assist employees and communicate with interested parties.

Interested parties may include customers, suppliers, trade unions, authorising bodies, media...
