Targets

The indicators of environmental performance can be used to set targets.

This is the final step in number crunching.

Objectives set the overall aim.
They could include commitments to:

  • Quantity of energy or material used.

  • Design products to minimise
    environmental impact

  • Minimise environmental impact of new developments

  • Promote environmental practice among employees and community

Targets put numbers and time to particular parts of the objective.

Setting targets involves all sorts of people and all sorts of issues.

The idea is that when you set a target you come up with something clear which everybody understands, and hopefully wants to help with.
