Benchmarks

You can 'benchmark' environmental performance. Using a standard set of questions and possible answers, you can mark your organisation.

Benchmarking is a favourite tool to compare different companies' performance.

Managers are asked to assess their own company. Their marks are all added up and compared with other similar companies.

The average performers provide the "benchmark" for you to test your company performance.

It is a useful technique as it is cheap, and easy to provide data that can give an insight to what is going on.

Obviously this requires every responsible person to be honest in their answers.
